Well- before Elizabeth headed off to Chicago (again) plus Mexico for the rest of July- we got one show in
at Wills Park. Long Stirrup was packed again Sat and Sun. We were spoiled that weekend and got a stall Friday. I was
a little worried about Maverick being in a stall all weekend with no friends from home to keep him company. That was stupid
of me! He seemed to enjoy his stall and fan too much, and I think he now considers himself "to good" to be tied
to the trailer. Anyway, they had a great weekend- with their best class being an equitation flat. Elizabeth kept Mav on the
bit, he was very well behaved, and she managed to sit his trot!!!! They left the class with a 2nd out of 15 and a very big
smile on Elizabeth's face. I managed to work 8 1/2 hours fri, sat, and sun- and still pull off the show. We won't
talk about the freezing showers I took at Wills Park. I think I was the first person to use them in ummmm.... about 4 or 5
years. I am getting some great training rides in on Mav while Elizabeth is out of town. Next week I am taking him in a clinic.
I am very excited and also curious to see what the Olympic rider/trainer thinks of him.
I feel very honored- I was offered
the opportunity to teach the hunter/jumper section of the Annual Georgia 4H Horse School located in Perry. The camp follows
the 4H State Show- and includes around 100 campers from all over Georgia. I was very dissapointed that I couldn't get
out of work for the week :( I really wanted to do it. Plus I was pretty excited about getting to stay in a hotel for a week.
Maybe next year they will consider me again (although I have no idea how they chose me.)
Tucker is not my little munchkin
anymore- he now looks like a small horse instead of a foal :( Tonight is his first night without Kady. He could care less
as long as he has food! Kady is not taking it as well (big surprise!) Now she can start more intensive reconditioning-
and on August 1st she gets shoes and goes back into training to get ready for the ATA and AWS inspections we will be attending
this fall. I have picked out the next stud I will be breeding her to- for a 2009 foal. He is a Canadian Trakehner named Pacific.
His owner is very excited about this match as well.
I would also like to take Tucker to an inspection- but he needs to
be gelded first- so we will see.
